Danusha mentioned creating a stop motion video, thought this may quite interesting to have a look at. Here they have used children's games as the content.
Forward to 2:08 on the video... They are playing about with Rubik's cube's which reminded me of the tiles you have been looking at. It is interesting to see how they move and perhaps you could do something similar.
