Ruth Murray: Presenting Images

House of Cards, 1952
 Charles & Ray Eames
House of Cards is a series of 32 interlocking cards that can be stacked, piled and slotted together in different ways. The pieces feature eye-catching pictures of “familiar and nostalgic objects from the animal, mineral and vegetable kingdoms” as well as beautiful textiles and patterns from around the world. It is a creative and exciting way of displaying photographs due to the flexibility of being able to play around with the cards and build various 3D structures from flat pieces. I love the close-up pictures as everyday objects have been repeated to fill the space and create colourful designs.
