Ruth Murray: Lighting Designs

I discovered some very stunning lighting features which may inspire Rebecca’s designs for a reflective hanging piece. These were found in the May 2012 journal p.17 IDFX,‘Lighting: Chandeliers’

Nebula Collection by Willowlamp

This sculptural light was inspired by the spiralling forms found in nature, from miniature sea shells to cosmic galaxies. The light in each tier can be controlled and dimmed separately, giving the user influence over how the sculpture appears and the brightness emitted. The chandeliers elongated form makes it ideal as a centrepiece in a vast space.

The sparkling crystal bubbles were created from hand-blown glass. Individual shapes are suspended together to form the lighting feature, which is an arrangement idea for Rebecca’s abstract cut-out shades. I love the minimal colours, and how the amber tones add warmth to its surroundings.
